The Gravina Sotterranea tour is a must for those who decide to visit the Murgia town. The spectacular underground network winding of city meanders is a rare if not unique heritage. These works of great civil engineering were left neglected for a long time until they were recovered and given new life by the association of the same name.

For many years, the Gravina Sotterranea Association has offered excursions to the most fascinating and characteristic places in the city’s underbelly. The most complete route that can be taken takes about 1.5 hours and includes several underground sites that are often not communicating with each other, but, for those who wish, it is possible to take an even shorter route (like 45 minutes) that includes a partial tour of the entire route.

Michele Parisi, president of the Gravina Sotterranea Association, has brought to light, with tenacity and perseverance, a previously unpublished and unknown Gravina by penetrating the mysteries enclosed in the meanders of impassable tunnels with faithful companions, ready to share the risks of a reckless adventure.

With enthusiasm and passion, the Association, has taken Gravina beyond the borders of Apulia, garnering praise everywhere for its work and arousing awe for an unknown city suggestive of natural and artistic beauty, a city still searching for its proper dimension among cities of art.
